Keynote I:  A New Role of Usability in the Future Mobility

Sangkyu Kim
Hyundai Vehicle Usability Development Team Leader

Recently, vehicle companies have shifted their focus from control and operability effectiveness to enhancing customer experience by developing new in-vehicle functions and utilities. This paradigm shift parallels the evolution of telephones into smartphones. During this process, developers face the challenge of achieving optimal usability through exploring new experiences, concepts, and operation forms without established guidelines. The three key approaches are agility, flexibility, and compatibility. Rapid improvements and evaluation/inspection of various concepts are achieved by implementing feasibility testing on a mass-produced vehicle. This keynote covers how the integration of virtual reality environments and digital human models is employed to evaluate the feasibility aspects of vehicle development.

Keynote Time: 14:10 - 14:50

Language: Korean

Sangkyu Kim is an accomplished engineer specializing in vehicle package engineering and usability development. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University. With over 17 years of experience at Hyundai Motor Group's R&D Division, he has contributed significantly to projects like Carens, Tucson, Sportage, and Nexo. His expertise lies in incorporating digital human modeling and ergonomics research into vehicle usability evaluations. Currently serving as the Vehicle Usability Development Team Leader, he leads a team focused on evaluating vehicle usability and conducting ergonomics research using virtual reality and the RAMSIS digital human model.

Keynote II: DX by UX

Dongseok Lee
CEO, Rainmaker DNC & Adjunct Prof. of Hanyang University

Why do most digital transformation (DX) projects fail? One of the major reasons is the projects focus just on technology and data. In this keynote Dongseok shares lessons from DX projects and how UX can contribute to the success of DX projects.

Keynote Time: 14:50 - 15:30

Language: Korean

Dongseok Lee is an experienced design consultant and the president of Rainmaker Design and Consulting. He designed electronics devices, mobile apps and enterprise softwares while working at Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Kohyoung Technology, Samsung SDS, and LG CNS. His book 'DX by UX' is based on his expertise on digital transformation projects.
